Journal for January 27 & 28
12 Feb 2006
January 27 2006
Today I wrote my last exam and caught the noon bus home early. It was such a beautiful day, the sun was out, and there was not a cloud in the sky. I retrieved my little sister, Karla, from our neighbor and relative Sharla. We ate lunch at my Uncle and Aunt's place. It was delicious.
Later on in the day we went for a snowshoe across the lake on a trail that my brother, Bjorn, and I had made several years before. The swamp was beautiful, trees were clear of snow and the sun looked like it was on fire. After snowshoeing for half an hour we came to a remote beaver pond. There was open water on half…with a small beaver dam at the end.
After snapping a few pictures we headed back home and had a delicious dinner at my Uncle and Aunt’s place.
January 28 2006
Today was just as gorgeous as the last. Everything was dripping from the mild weather, which was on average 0°, and the ground was peeking through in some places. It was so warm, especially considering it was January. After breakfast dishes, Karla and I began to work outside in the yard. After about an hour and a half we brought our cans away on the four-wheeler. After another half hour of yard work and visiting with Jasi, Katarina’s horse, we ate lunch. During lunch we planned a four-wheeler ride.
Sharla decided to join us, along with her four children, which was great because it is so much more fun when there are two or more four-wheelers on a ride. We had a lot of fun, and almost got stuck a few times in the deep snow. Nevertheless we made it back safely, stopping to look at Noquabic Lake and to have a snack on the way.
