Labrador Job Part 3

Picture
The Northern Lights Lodge was very close to the Gabbro Control Structure.  The locals told us someone had drowned because they couldn't get their motor started and had gone through the gates.

When you look at the roaring, cycling water on the other side you can see why.

Picture
At the end of each day, we would visit the dam and gaze at the mesmerizing force of the water.  It sends a shiver through you just looking at it, but is also thrilling to be so close to it.

Another structure that caught our attention was a radio communications tower.  It was at the top of an old mountain and we could see it every day on the way to work.  Our last day of hiking was right at the tower.  All day it enticed us as we worked.

Tara, Ruth, and Jess

Picture
Near the tower was a camp run by Christian missionaries to help the Inuit people.  I think that is who put up the cross.

Just the view from the top of the mountain was awesome.

Ruth and Jess at the top where it was very windy.

Picture
In the morning, it was quite misty and you couldn't even see the top of the tower.  By the time the work day was ended it had cleared up to be partly sunny.

It took awhile to climb up 430 feet to the top.  The old mountain in the bottom left of the photo is where the previous "cross" photo was taken!

Picture
Those little white discs at the top of those skinny towers aren't so little after all.

Looking all the way down from all the way on top.  (I''m shaking a little as I take these shots.)

Picture
I caught Ruth before she retreated back to earth.  Exhilirating.
