Labrador Job Part 6
We had to fuel up at a little fishing village, called Makovik.
The only way to access Makovik is by sea or air, except in the winter when you must drive 7 hours by snowmobile to reach Goose Bay.
This friendly man at the "airport" was happy to give us a tour of his hometown.
The fishing boats, the docks, the fish factory, and the beautiful landscape were all just like pictures I've seen of east cost fishing villages.
Our last stop of the day was at a camp on Mustang Lake.
The sound of spikes being pounded into fresh plywood gave that new-camp feeling.

We had some time in Goose Bay to have a nice meal and meet some of the people. Our last night we ate at Trappers, which is a cook-your-own steak place. After supper, we convinced Willie, an engineer for Canadian Helicopters, to play his guitar and sing. That was lots of fun.
The next day, we flew home and arrived just in time to see the final hockey game for the Stanley Cup. We were of course disappointed when Edmonton lost.

Please note: This story was made possible through the generous contributions of Tom Setterfield's and Ruth Bjorkman's photos. Thanks so much guys! (I lost my digital camera flying out to Labrador.)
